Texas Regional Bank announced the groundbreaking on their newest Hill Country Banking Center at the southeast intersection of Wonder World Drive and Stagecoach Trail. The building is the first new construction for the Harlingen-based bank since entering the Hill Country with the 2017 acquisition of Blanco National Bank.

The building will include a full-service banking center equipped with three drive-thru lanes, an automated teller machine (ATM) and a community room designed for local non-profits to use free of charge. The building’s modern design, by Jackson & McElhaney Architects, features natural Hill Country limestone with sweeping lines and accents that are typical of surrounding San Marcos architecture “It’s a building that people are going to be proud to have in our community,” said Lance Spruiell, Regional Market President of Texas Regional Bank. “But I’m most excited about the team we’ve assembled to staff the bank; they are a great group of customer-centric people,” added Spruiell.

Wood & Thomason Construction of San Marcos was named the general contractor for the project and Doucet & Associates are the civil engineers on the project. With the groundbreaking complete, construction has commenced and is scheduled to be complete in early 2019. The bank is currently open at their temporary location at 1913 Dutton Drive.
