Texas Regional Bank extends its deepest condolences to the family of Joel Gonzalez, Senior Vice President at Texas Regional Bank. Joel’s 30-year banking career made an impact in the Rio Grande Valley and in Pharr, the community he loved. Texas Regional Bank was his professional home for two years, but his relationships with his colleagues are decades old. His absence is felt across the organization, but especially at our McAllen Main location at Ridge and McColl where he worked.

Joel was an active advocate for improving education and opportunities for the youth of PSJA.  He was most proud of being the President of the PSJA Education Foundation, which brought him great joy.

Joel cared about all people and led the efforts in helping the Mujeres Unidas’ local shelter. He led by example. This past Christmas he gave and encouraged our team to give donations for the Christmas season. He often went above and beyond, and on Christmas day he delivered a hot traditional Christmas meal to the shelter for those there to enjoy. In honor of Joel’s passion for the community, we will continue our support for Mujeres Unidas and PSJA Education Foundation.  Texas Regional Bank has set up an account in his honor:  The Joel Gonzalez Scholarship Fund.  Funds will be disbursed to both organizations on an annual basis.

It was an honor to have known, worked and laughed with Joel, he will be greatly missed.
